Regulatory Compliance Officer
Valley Forge Sewer Authority, a regional wastewater facility located in Chester County, is seeking an experienced
Compliance Officer to join its team.
Position is full-time with rotating weekends and holidays. Duties include: performing inspections, sampling, monitoring, and
laboratory analyses of waste flows to determine compliance with all applicable federal, state and local rules, regulations,
permits and orders. Most possess a minimum of an Associate Degree in Biology, Chemistry or
Environmental Science curriculum, or 4 years of operational and/or laboratory experience may be substituted for

JOB TITLE: REGULATORY COMPLIANCE OFFICER
This position entails performing inspections, sampling, monitoring, and laboratory analyses of waste flows (including analysis of biosolids generated at the wastewater treatment plant) to determine compliance with all applicable federal, state and local rules, regulations, permits, and orders.
EXAMPLE OF SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Samples, measures and analyzes the quality and quantity of the effluent and biosolids produced by the wastewater treatment plant and waste from industrial users and waste generators via site inspections and sample collection.
Performs biological and chemical laboratory analyses related to wastewater treatment as well as recording and assembling data in a concise manner.
Prepares information for accounting department for appropriate billings, surcharges, permits to industrial users.
Prepares sampling equipment for use in monitoring waste at industrial users or waste generators.
Prepares standard laboratory reagents for use in routine analytical procedures.
Maintains sampling equipment and laboratory instruments.
Prepares and maintains laboratory quality control logbooks and a log of field observations including, but not limited to, industrial waste characteristics, process information and unusual site occurrences.
Assists Lab Supervisor in maintenance of computerized and hard copy industrial pretreatment and laboratory records.
Develops and maintains a positive liaison with representatives of partner municipalities, industrial users, waste generators and waste haulers.
Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Lab Supervisor in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local rules, regulations, permits and orders.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Environmental Science curriculum. Four (4) years of operational and/or laboratory experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
Ability to communicate well with professionals in industrial and laboratory settings.
Working knowledge of standard laboratory principles and equipment.
Ability to keep accurate written records.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to successfully do math computations at a college level.
Ability to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds.
Valid motor vehicle operators license
Considerable lifting, carrying, standing and walking. Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Exposure to industrial and domestic wastewater. General laboratory hazards, including exposure to chemicals, some of which may be hazardous.
