The Valley Forge Sewer Authority (VFSA) mission is to protect the public health and preserve the environment by collecting wastewater from within our service area, processing it, and returning treated wastewater and its by-products to the environment in compliance with regulatory standards.
The History of Valley Forge Sewer Authority
- The Valley Forge Sewer Authority (VFSA) is a municipal authority incorporated by Charlestown, East Pikeland, and Schuylkill Townships in 1968.
- By 1976 The townships of Easttown, Malvern, East Whiteland, Tredyffrin, and Willistown were added as partners to the regional treatment system.
- By 1977 the wastewater treatment plant was placed into operation and by 1985 the treatment plant had a rated capacity of 8 million gallons per day (MGD).
- In 1993 the treatment plant capacity was expanded to 9.2 MGD. In 2009, the WWTP capacity was again expanded to 11.75 MGD.
- Today the VFSA serves more than 115,000 persons, has an approved and regulated Federal Industrial Pretreatment Program through the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), operates an approved Trucked Waste Program, and complies with all National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit (NPDES) requirements as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
